Kite clubs are a great way to meet avid kite flyers in your area. They are also a wonderful place to learn and improve your flying skills, as most experienced flyers are happy to pass along their knowledge. Some clubs are just a loose affiliation of kite flyers, while others are more formal structured groups. Many clubs attend kite festivals or put on special events. - Smithsonian Kite Festival: Annual kiting event held on the National Mall in Washington, DC.
- Newport Kite Festival: Held at Brenton Point State Park in Newport, RI.
- Southern Oregon Kite Festival: Held in Brookings, this has been one of the premier kite festivals in the United States, bringing some of the most well known kite fliers and kite makers in America to perform and display their creations for locals and tourists alike.
- Washington State International Kite Festival: The Washington State International Kite Festival is held annually on the beautiful Long Beach Peninsula in the Southwest corner of Washington State.
- Zilker Park Kite Festival: One of the longest continuously running Kite Festivals in the US, this is an annual rite of Spring in Austin, TX.

- AKA - American Kitefliers Association: With over 4,000 members in 35 countries, the American Kitefliers Association is the largest association of kiters in the world. Members receive a 10% discount at WindPower Sports.
- KTAI - Kite Trade Association International: A professional trade organization for kite retailers and manufactures.
- Drachen Foundation: The Drachen Foundation is a non-profit corporation dedicated to the increase and diffusion of kite knowledge and the historical, cultural, scientific, and artistic aspects of kiting.
- World Kite Museum: Located in Long Beach, Washington the World Kite Museum and Hall of Fame is the only American museum dedicated exclusively to the history of kites, kitemakers and famous kite fliers.

- North American Buggy Expo: Formerly known as Spring Break Buggy Blast this is an annual meeting of traction pilots from all over the world meeting at the Ivanpah dry lake bed on the California/Nevada border.
- Dead Bird Buggy Bash: The Dead Bird Buggy Bash - DBBB - is a casual, no-schedule, no-races kite buggy regatta held each November over the Thanksgiving holiday in Galveston, Texas. Started as an annual holiday retreat for local kite buggy riders, this growing event follows no criteria or format other than to enjoy kite buggying with friends new and old and promote kite traction in a friendly and safe environment.
