Premier QuadTrac Pro-Foil Power Kite Details
The QuadTrac Pro-Foil was designed by Ted Dougherty (the original Quadrifoil) and back in the mid-90’s showed many kite flyers the way into kite traction. Using ¾ oz. ripstop and cross-venting, the QuadTrac is a stable, powerful foil with a wide wind range and the curved leading edge still popular today. The 2m size is the way to start. Not too big so you can get out in a wide variety of winds as you learn. Fun to fly just standing in the park down to some pretty light breezes (how light depends on you) and become good traction engines as the winds increase.
The science of marketing and the science of aerodynamics sometime clash and the QuadTrac became a fashion victim. The colors were considered “hot” back then, but I guess they’re not “phat” any more.
