RSS Feed
|
What is an RSS Feed?
RSS feeds are a way of syndicating and distributing news and
other information. The RSS feeds are accessed by people
who use RSS readers (also called news aggregators).
RSS feeds are a great way for anyone to receive customized news
and information from thousands of different sources and it is
also a way for web site owners to let you know what new content
they have available within their web sites.
Popular RSS feeds include the New York Times headlines,
Dictionary.com's Word of the day, NPR, the daily Dilbert and more.
Many bloggers use RSS feeds to keep their readers up to date on
their latest entries.
With the use of a RSS reader you can create your own custom
electronic newspaper or magazine of recent content. So, if
you go to many different sites to get your news and information,
and if these sites have RSS feeds, they will bring the news
directly to you and you can organize it the way you want. |

RSS Readers
There are many RSS readers available some free and some
not. There are readers that integrate into your browser as
well as stand alone readers. A very good and popular free RSS reader that
also integrates with Internet Explorer is the
Pluck reader (requires Windows XP or Windows 2000). A
quick search of
Google will give you many other options for RSS readers for
Windows, Mac and Linux. |
